Both of these attributes of his campaign are contrary to the values of any branch of Judaism. I cannot think of any presidential candidate over the course of my lifetime, starting with Eisenhower and Stevenson, regardless of their politics, whom I could not point out to my children or grandchildren as someone to be emulated on a personal level, with the possible exception of Richard Nixon at the time of his re-election.
