Tolerate Dissent

Gary Rosenblatt’s courageous piece (“Advocacy Gone Awry,” March 18) calls much-needed attention to the polarization that currently exists in discussions on the topic of what constitutes “pro-Israel” advocacy, and what is “anti-Israel.”
It is all too common today for Jewish groups that seek to provide a forum for intelligent discussion and debate on issues related to Israeli policies, groups such as New Israel Fund and J Street, to be rejected as “anti-Israel.” It is time for a more open and less defensive position and greater tolerance of dissenting views, on the part of individuals and groups concerned about Israel’s welfare.
