Ramaz
Approaching its 85th year, Ramaz is a co-educational Modern Orthodox Day School in the heart of New York City, committed to inspiring a love of Torah learning, derech eretz, and Israel, which is seamlessly integrated across core subjects in general and Judaic Studies.

Ours is a student-centered, inquiry-based learning, and immersive dual-language curriculum beginning in the Early Childhood Center and continuing through Grade 12. For example, when our nursery students learn to converse with “Bentzi,” a stuffed turtle who only speaks Hebrew, this immersive approach to Hebrew language helps prepare them to speak confidently with Israelis and soldiers on their eighth-grade mission to Israel, and ultimately, to engage in Upper School Hebrew performances, debates, and Tanakh competitions.

In addition, with all the richness New York City has to offer and in an atmosphere of joyful learning, our student’s educational journey is enhanced with interactive trips in the neighborhood, visits to world-class galleries, museums, Central Park, or Broadway, whether learning about the Rambam, Shakespeare, or mammals.

There are four key principles that help distinguish and inform our Nursery – Eighth Grade curriculum, programs, and approach to teaching:

Deep, Integrated Core Academics in Judaic and General Studies
Ramaz connects literacy, math, science, and Hebrew language – as well as other core academic disciplines – in a meaningful, broad, way by engaging students in design thinking projects, discussions, and experiences that enhance their individual interests, competencies, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration – all through a Jewish lens.

Health and Well-being – Mind, Body, and Soul
We promote and deepen student and communal connections and relationships by using the common language of Responsive Classroom, a student-centered social-emotional approach to learning. Faculty and staff work together to help foster our students’ self-confidence, self-esteem, and problem-solving skills in positive, productive, and joyful ways.

Tech Tools and Applications
We prioritize tools that help expand our students’ technology toolbox and applications for learning and socially engaging in a safe, responsible, thoughtful way.

Worldview
With our world becoming increasingly more connected, we challenge students to apply Jewish values when exploring world issues and needs in an age-appropriate way. At Ramaz, students at a young age learn to consider the potential of their personal and collective impact as future Jewish and greater community leaders.

Beginning in our Early Childhood Center, our students are educated to problem-solve, embrace different perspectives, collaborate, and give back, so that they can become compassionate leaders and make a difference in their communities, for the Jewish people, and for all humankind.

Beit Rabban Day School is home to deep, joyful learning. An intentionally non-denominational school, we model Jewish learning in a community of diverse Jewish families all passionately committed to Jewish life. Our preschool through eighth-grade program fuses rigor and wonder to foster active learners who are adept critical thinkers and problem solvers; empowered Jews who possess the fluency, skills, and passion to live rich Jewish lives; curious human beings who approach learning as a lifelong endeavor; and kind community members who care for themselves, their immediate communities, and their world.

We invite you to learn more about our school community! Please reach out to us via 212-595-1386 or admissions@beitrabban.org to schedule a conversation and a tour. And we look forward to having you at our virtual Open House on November 4th!

Manhattan Day School
Manhattan Day School/Yeshiva Ohr Torah, founded in 1943, is a Modern Orthodox day school located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan serving Toddlers through Eighth Grade. Our warm and welcoming school community embraces students and families from around the city and around the world and celebrates the diversity of customs and backgrounds represented.

Our core goals are to inspire our children to:
Develop a love of Hashem, the Jewish people, Torah, and Israel — through learning and living the texts and traditions of Am Yisrael with joy.

Cultivate a lifelong foundation of middot and ethics — through the fostering of a school culture of respect, safety, and kindness.

Engage in a dynamic exploration of the world around them — through immersion in the humanities; math, science, and emerging technologies; art and music; and the history and culture of our vibrant democracy and global community.
