In “Passover Seder Losing Steam As Key Marker Of Affiliation” (April 9), not only does Steve Lipman mention “seder dropouts,” he also writes about recent surveys indicating diminished attendance at synagogues, fewer donations to Jewish organizations, and that only about 25 percent of American Jews consider religion a major factor in their lives. When someone brought up in the Modern Orthodox world does not attend a seder, it indicates more than a cursory problem. I wonder whether the participants at Buddhist seders have substituted “Ommm” for “dayenu!”
