Riverdale Four Get Top Terrorist Lawyer

Riverdale Four Get Top Terrorist Lawyer

Associate Editor

Friday, June 12th, 2009

The Riverdale terrorist suspects have now linked up with Lynne Stewart, a lawyer who herself has been convicted for assisting her terrorist client Sheik Abdul Rahman, who was connected to the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center and the murder of Rabbi Meir Kahane. Stewart was also the defense attorney for the Palestinians who threw Molotov cocktails at the Conservative Synagogue in Riverdale. She was recruited for that case by former Attorney General Ramsey Clark. The top terrorist lawyers will be working to free the suspects. Everyone’s talking about the FBI informant throwing around money. Who’s money is paying for the defense of the Newburgh Four?

Stewart, disbarred in the wake of her terrorist-assist conviction, apparently is consulting rather than being the actual attorney. Attorney Marilyn Reader represented Laguerre Payen in U.S. District Court during an early June court appearance. She’s making the arguement that he is dimwitted, and she’s arranged for a forensic shrink to prove it.

He’s not that dimwitted. A New York court, in 2002, found that he was sane enough to figure out driving directions from Newburgh to Monsey, where he took out a BB gun to randomly shoot at Jews, for which he was found guilty and jailed.

There’s talk that the defendants might call some of the leaders of the two targeted synagogues, Riverdale Jewish Center and Riverdale Temple, as witnesses for her defense of the men who wanted to blow up those same synagogues. Attorney Reader, on June 3, for example, told the judge that her client was “one step above homeless,” according to the Riverdale Press, and otherwise echoes the statements from Riverdale Jewish Center’s Rabbi Jonathan Rosenblatt and Riverdale Temple’s Rabbi Judith Lewis that argued, in sympathy for the suspects, that root cause of local terrorism was poverty and socio-economic hardships.

Air America, the liberal radio network, described the targets of these terrorists as “rich” Jews. And one of Lynne Stewart’s previous clients made the case that the Jews of Riverdale were “rich,” something that annoyed him every bit as much as their Zionism.

Some in the Jewish community, and some in the Jewish media, would like to see the story go away, or so it seems. Nevertheless, the Lynne Stewarts and Project Salams of the world will keep this story and their cause alive, even if the Jews won’t.

Everything that follows is from a WESPAC (Westchester People’s Action Coaliton) alert about the event:

Project SALAM is actively addressing the issue of FBI entrapment:

“The FBI hires Muslim criminals as agents provocateur to infiltrate Muslim communities and try to involve innocent law abiding members in illegal activities by large gifts of money, friendship trickery and manipulation. The latest indictment of the Newburgh Four is just one in a long series of illegal entrapments. In the Newburgh Four case, the same criminal agent provocateur who entrapped Aref and Hossain in Albany, was able to entrap four men in Newburgh who were only marginally connected to Islam. One had mental problems, one was a cocaine addict, one was homeless. The agent reportedly offered them up to $25,000 each to join the conspiracy. The FBI’s claim that these entrapments are legitimate law enforcement activities that make us safer, is ridiculous and shocking. Please go to our web site and sign our letter if you agree that use of agents provocateur by the FBI is morally wrong and a danger to the rule of law in this country. Thank you.”
