N.J. Woman Accused Of Sexual Contact With Students While Teaching At Jewish Day Schools

A teacher who was formerly employed at two Jewish schools in New Jersey is accused of having inappropriate sexual contact with students.

The Torah Academy of Bergen County in Teaneck and the Jewish Educational Center in Elizabeth sent out letters to parents saying that they had recently been informed of the incidents. The teacher, who is female, allegedly initiated the inappropriate sexual contact last year.

According to a letter sent out by the Torah Academy, the school found out about the allegations through a student who confided the incident to another teacher. In a similar letter, the Jewish Educational Center said that it found out through an alumnus who called the school on Dec. 1 with the allegations.

Both schools indicated that they have contacted police and an investigation has been opened.

“TABC has a zero tolerance for this type of behavior by adults. Our priorities are the welfare and safety of our students and the community at large,” read the letter sent out by Rabbi Yosef Adler of the Torah Academy.
