Live From Write On For Israel, Day Five

This is the part of a series of live dispatches from our Write On For Israel students during their trip to Israel. Write On For Israel is a leadership training program for high school students. You can find out more about the program here, and follow us on Facebook and Instagram for live updates throughout the trip and here for the daily roundups.

Today we focused on the Jewish people’s historical connection to Israel.

We began our day at Ir David and learned the stories of King David in the exact spot where they took place over 3,000 years ago. On college campuses, historical claims are often questioned. However, archaeological evidence such as Ir David and the Kotel provide a rock-solid argument against those claims. Additionally, seeing these artifacts and historical monuments allowed us to foster a deeper connection to our homeland.

Next, we visited the StandWithUs Jerusalem headquarters, where Charlotte Korchak gave us the tools to remain calm and confident while refuting common anti-Israel misconceptions and defending Israel’s right to exist.

After an amazing week, we are looking forward to a special Shabbat together in Jerusalem!
