Yossi Klein Halevi, Ambassador Dennis Ross, and Eric Goldstein discuss the Six-Day War fifty years on at The Jewish Week/UJA Fed. NY event on Thursday, May 18. Judah S. Harris/JW
When it comes to the Six-Day War there is the narrative of triumph, miracles, redemption, and there is another narrative that recognizes that the outcome of the war set Israel on a course to more insecurity, more wars, and a challenging standing in the world. Of course, as is often the case, both narratives can be seen as right.
How can we reconcile those narratives? What went right after ’67? What went wrong?
Last Thursday evening over 1000 people came out to Temple Emanu-El to hear Ambassador Dennis Ross in conversation with Yossi Klein Halevi on this topic. The event, moderated by Eric Goldstein (CEO UJA-Federation) was organized in collaboration with UJA-Federation of NY, Temple Emanu-El Streicker Center, Shalom Hartman Institute in NYC.
