Guide To Aid Caregivers of Holocaust Survivors

Guide To Aid Caregivers of Holocaust Survivors

Recognizing the different health and emotional issues survivors face, Conference on Material Claims Against Germany has published an online journal to help aging survivors’ caregivers deal with their unique challenges.
The first issue, which can be found at, includes articles on alleviating the isolation of survivors in certain American communities, and working with those in remote area. It also examines successful programs for survivors in two communities.
Survivors may develop ailments that are more acute than other seniors because of the prolonged malnutrition or extreme physical abuse they endured during the Holocaust. In addition, emotional traumas long suppressed may surface, amplifying normal aging anxieties.
The articles are written by experts with both academic and practical experience in issues specific to survivors. They provide insight into how others have dealt with them, and offer guidance in providing the best care possible.
