As Massad alumni, my husband and I attended the recent reunion (“Recalling The Golden Age Of Hebrew Culture In America,” July 1).
It was a great tribute to Rifvka and the late Shlomo Shulsinger that 30 years after the closing of Massad so many campers and staff came out to celebrate their tremendous vision. It is sad that our children do not have the same opportunity to be immersed in Hebrew language and culture. But please, “Ivris b’Ivris”? [As opposed to “Ivrit b’Ivrit, the Israeli style of pronunciation.] Shlomo would certainly not allow a “chaver Massad” to speak that way.
