Whoever titled Rabbi Chaim Steinmetz’ article, “Circumcision Is Out Of Vogue: An Orthodox Rabbi Agrees” (Opinion, July 1), has a lot to learn about truth in advertising.
Yes, the headline was an attention grabber, and yes, the rabbi did say that circumcision “won’t win popularity contests.” However, the thrust of his article was that the tenets of our religion, of which ritual circumcision is a pillar, must be adhered to, even if they are unpopular. The title of this very excellent article was misleading and totally untrue to the intent of the author, as I understood it. Disappointing, but not all that surprising.
