Yom HaZikaron: The Power of Jewish Peoplehood Through Personal and Collective Mourning

Solomon Shapiro, a lone soldier in the IDF originally from New York, will talk about his JCC experience and facilitate a conversation from the home of Leah Garber, director of JCC Association’s Center for Israel Engagement. Panelist will include: Alon Carmeli and Gal Carmeli, the father and sister, respectively, of Sean Carmeli, a lone solider killed while on duty in Gaza in 2014; Hemi Goldin, a brother of Hadar Goldin, who was killed during Operation Tzuk Eitan in Gaza in 2014, but whose remains have not been returned to Israel; the Jerusalem folk singers Tamar & Netanel; and Bat Galim Shaer, mother of Gilad Shaer, one of three teenagers kidnapped from a West Bank bus station and killed in June 2014.
