The Jewish Roots of Rock ‘n’ Roll

November 16 , 7:00 pm

Congregation Tifereth Israel (CTI) joins with the Glen Cove Senior Center/
Glen Cove Sage Foundation to present Rhythm and Jewish Entertainers:

Jewish performers and songwriters have been at the forefront of American
popular music for nearly three-quarters of a century. The songs of these
Jewish artists are woven into the tapestry of American cultural history. In
Rhythm and Jewish Entertainers, entertainer/guitarist Lincoln Richman
explores the contributions of these artists including Leiber & Stoller, Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Famers who wrote many of Elvis Presley’s earliest hits and all of the timeless music celebrated in Smokey Joe’s Café. Through video clips, sound recordings and live music, Richman presents the songs of Leiber & Stoller as well as singer/songwriters Carole King, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, Simon &Garfunkel and Neil Sedaka. He also explores music made famous by Kiss, Lesley Gore, The Ramones and The Beastie Boys.

Admission to Rhythm and Jewish Entertainers is $18 in advance and $20 at
the door. Refreshments will be served.

Tickets may be obtained by calling CTI at (516) 676-5080 or the Glen Cove Senior Center at (516) 759-9610.
