Surviving Skokie

January 29 , 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Surviving Skokie is an intensely personal documentary by former Skokie resident Eli Adler about the provocative events of the 1970s when a band of neo-Nazis threatened to march in Skokie, Illinois. The film explores his family’s experience of the Shoah, their transition to life in America, and a journey to confront long-suppressed memories. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Dr. David Kaufman of Hebrew Union College.
This film is co-presented with the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (Claims Conference), as part of a series that advances our joint efforts to preserve the memory of the Holocaust.
Free; advance registration recommended.
