Pre-Elections in Israel: Elections 101

April 2 , 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

On April 9, the Israeli people will vote again in a general election. Following three victorious elections for Benjamin Netanyahu, the center-left block will try to win and the right + ultra-Orthodox block will try to maintain its power. The Israeli political system and society can be complicated. Join us as we try to help you understand the political map of Israel and what the results of the election may mean.

Join us for an overview session of the Israeli election and a program with Michal Aharoni, an advisor to Israeli politicians, and a writer on Yisrael Hayom: The Israeli politics as a mirror to Israeli society, and shedding light on the interesting topics of the 2019 election.

Michal Aharoni is an Israeli playwright and columnist based in NYC. Aharoni earned her theater and education degree from Hakibuzim seminar in Tel Aviv, followed by a Master of Arts degree from Middlesex University in London. She was awarded The British Council Chevening scholarship to study in the U.K. Her writing mostly deals with politics and the Israeli — Arab conflict based on her experience and long-time work in the political arena. Over the past several years, she has worked as a spokeswoman for many Israeli politicians. She was also part of the Israeli delegation to the peace summit in Camp David in 1999. She currently writes for “Israel Hayom”, Israel’s largest newspaper.

This program is in partnership with B’nai Jeshurun, Congregation Shaare Zedek, West End Synagogue, and the UWS Shlichut program.
