Origins of Modern Anti-Semitism

November 6 , 7:00 pm

Steven Zipperstein, professor in Jewish Culture and History at Stanford University, will discuss his most recent book, “Pogrom: Kishinev and the Tilt of History.” Zipperstein sees the Kishinev Pogrom of 1903 as ultimately influencing the political agendas of a wide range of American institutions in the first decades of the 20th century; it became the inspiration of the most powerful and resilient metaphors in Jewish life, timeless and ferocious. In essence, his book explains the origins of modern anti-Semitism.

$10 congregants/$15 non-members.
