Jewish Women in Renaissance Italy Visual Arts

Dr. Evelyn Cohen will present “Images of Jewish Women in the Visual Arts of Renaissance Italy.” The lecture, sponsored by the Women’s Initiative for Jewish Studies, is free and open to women and men.

Dr. Evelyn M. Cohen is an art historian who specializes in illuminated Hebrew manuscripts and Italian Renaissance art. A recipient of a Renaissance Society of America – Kress Bodleian Library Fellowship (2018) and a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship, she has also been a Samuel H. Kress Fellow, and a Coleman Fellow at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  Dr. Cohen has served on the faculty of Columbia University, Brooklyn College, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Jewish Theological Seminary, where she was the founding Curator of Jewish Art. A widely published author, she is the recipient of the National Jewish Book Award.
