Jewish Genealogy Society Meeting

May 19 , 2:00 pm

The West African island nation of Cabo Verde is an especially compelling place from which to explore the process of rediscovering one’s family or community history of Jewish ancestors, with the unexpected convergence of Jews and Africans on this remote archipelago in the North Atlantic. Professor Alma Gottlieb will discuss her research with Cabo Verdeans on and off the islands reconnecting with their Jewish identity. Her book-in-progress is Africa across the Seder Table: Jewish Identity in Cabo Verde and its Diaspora.

Free for JGS and ASF members; guests welcome, $5 at the door.
