This meeting of the Jewish Genealogical Society covers the topics of “The Mysterious Mr. Manley: How do you prove something didn’t happen?”
Speaker Sue Fialkoff will describe her long search for a young relative’s possible second marriage a century ago. Did Eloise Metzger marry a Mr. Manley, as records suggested? If not, why did Eloise start using the name Manley? The program will touch on helpful research strategies, including refining your research question, analyzing negative evidence, using nontraditional sources, and placing your research into historical context.
A graduate of the Boston University Certificate Program in Genealogical Research and the ProGen genealogical study program, Sue is a longtime member of the JGS of Greater Washington and currently edits Mishpacha, JGSGW’s quarterly publication.
