Matthew Goodman will discuss his book “The City Game: Triumph, Scandal and a Legendary Basketball Team.” The CCNY Beavers was the only basketball team to win the NIT and NCAA tournaments in the same season. But in 1951, the team’s five starting players (all either Jewish or African American) were arrested for conspiring with gamblers to “shave points.”
