Temple Israel of New Rochelle celebrates the holiday over several days with numerous activities, including a family service, carnival, parade, spiel, megillah reading and preparing matanot l’evyonim for those in need.

7:00 pm Purim Spiel & Megillah Reading * (see below for a mitzvah project!). An Elton John Purim – Esther Saved Our Lives Tonight. In the Sanctuary/Brotherhood Lounge there will be a Bar for 21 and over, and “Mock” Tails like a “Mordechai Mai Tai” or a “Hamanhattan” for our youth.
8:00 pm Preparing Matanot L’evyonim (gifts of food to those who are food insecure).*
Join us as we prepare grocery bags filled with food for Community Service Associates (CSA) clients.

There are four Purim Mitzvot that we are commanded to do when celebrating the holiday.
1. Reading the Megillah
2. Sending Mishloach Manot (gifts of food and drink to family and friends)
3. Eating a special meal
4. Giving Matanot L’evyonim (gifts of food to those who are food insecure)
