Confused By DOE Policy

Confused By DOE Policy

I am confused by the fact that public schools, in order to get money from the
state, must comply with Department of Education rules, regulations, curricula, submit accurate
information regarding academic achievement, or else, in many cases, money is withheld from the schools. (“Reversing Course, DOE Vows To Broaden Yeshiva Probe,” Oct. 9) For example: withheld money for special education placements in
East Ramapo, which is in repeated expensive litigation.

Yet yeshivot are
entitled to get money from the state, via the public school districts,
without complying with DOE rules and regulations and without submitting
accurate information or, in many cases, any information because they have no
information to give.
