Can A Shoe Be A Work Of Art?

A fashion exhibition, “A Walk Of Art; Visionary Shoes,” focusing on conceptual, artistic, and extreme footwear, aims to reevaluate the occult power and mystery of shoes. The exhibition features 60 pairs of shoes created by alumni and students of Israel’s Bezalel Academy. It is on display at Parasol Project Gallery (2 Rivington St, New York) through January and February. The Jewish Week spoke to the curator, Ya’ara Keydar, about the how the exhibition was conceived, created and the feedback from the show so far.
