Concerning Gary Rosenblatt’s column, “Center Stage For Ex-Mayor’s Jewish Identity,” and the Genesis Prize (May 2), I wish to state that Michael Bloomberg, as mayor of New York City, came to light the World’s Largest Menorah 12 times — every year that he was mayor.
The World’s Largest Menorah is a public symbol of Jewish pride, Jewish identity and continuity. Michael Bloomberg didn’t just come one year “to show support.” The first time he came he said, “I’m only sorry that my father did not live to see this.”
The Rebbe always taught us to concentrate on the good deeds of every Jew and to expand on them.
