All She Wrote: Signing Off from The Jewish Week

Eventually, this day had to come, the day when I wrote my last blog for The Jewish Week. In the fall I'll be starting a Ph.D. program in U.S. history at Columbia, which means I'll no longer be able to hold this job. But the good news is that I'll be able to freelance, so you can expect to see my by-line somewhere in The Jewish Week in the coming months.

Rather than bore you with the reasons I'm leaving journalism for academia — and keeping with the blogosphere's emphasis on brevity — I'll just say that it's been a wonderful ride.

This venerable New York paper has given me tremendous pleasure over the past six years and the same must be said about you, my readers. You've challenged me, called me out when I got facts wrong, disagreed with me, and, when I was lucky, given me a little bit of praise.

But most important is that you read me. Nothing matters means more to a journalist, so let me just thank you again.

Now go read one of our other staff bloggers. There are plenty of wonderful writers to choose from.
