Some 2,000 Israeli women joined together to sings a harmonious mass-rendition of Australian pop-singer Sia’s “Titanium” in honor of International Women’s Day.
The project, released Thursday, was a joint initiative with the Na’amat women’s rights group and Koolulam, a social media platform that brings Israelis together in song.
“We chose the song due to the empowering lyrics and message – it’s all about women who stand together and celebrate their power,” the organizers said in a statement.
“We really hope Sia will get to hear this one. We know she is a fighter for human rights and women’s rights and hope this gesture will touch her, too,” they concluded. By Thursday afternoon it had already garnered more than 150,000 views.
The song was recorded last month after Koolulam and Na’amat sent a message to their Facebook followers calling on those interested in the project to sign up.
Those who registered were sent information on where and when in Tel Aviv meet for the recording, which was kept largely under the wraps until Thursday.
