The concert, hosted by Congregation Rodeph Sholom in New York City, celebrates an Honorary Doctor of Music being awarded to their Senior Cantor, Rebecca Garfein and her cantorial classmates from the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music – Hebrew Union College — marking 25 distinguished years in the cantorate.
The Cantors: In Concert, Voices of a Generation, marks an anniversary important both for the Reform movement and feminism: Cantor Rebecca Garfein was one of the first two female Senior Cantors in Manhattan where she began her tenure 18 years ago and the first female cantor in the 178-year old history of Rodeph Sholom.
The event will feature music central to the Reform Jewish Cantorial tradition, pulling from the best of Chazzanut, Yiddish and Ladino as well as Broadway favorites
The concert tickets are $36 for general seating and $54 for a champagne VIP reception with the performers and Cantor Garfein.
Tickets are available at rodephsholom.org/cantors.
