This Sunday, Conservative lay leaders and professionals will join together for the USCJ Convention 2017, “Dare Together.”

For those planning to attend, there are a number of events focused on disability inclusion. These events sponsored by the USCJ Ruderman Inclusion Action Community.

A special opportunity is open to leaders from Kehillot that have participated in the USCJ Ruderman project, similar projects in New York, Boston, Chicago and with Rosh Pina. The general session kick off will be on Sunday, December 3rd at 1:00 p.m. We are excited that Gabrielle Kaplan-Mayer will then present from 3:15-5:45. Her presentation will discuss, Making Disability Inclusion Personal and Relevant–Whether You Are Personally Connected to Disability or Not. Gabrielle works as Director of Whole Community Inclusion at Jewish Learning Venture in Philadelphia.

On Monday, December 4, Dr. Miriam Heyman, Program Officer at the Ruderman Family Foundation and I will present a session on engaging families who have a member with a disability. We will focus the workshop on including young adults in your kehilla.

At 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4, there will be a session with leaders from successful Kehillot, most of whom were participants in the USCJ Ruderman Inclusion Action Community.  They will share how they have accomplished impressive results in their home synagogues.
