Located in Be’er Sheva, Soroka Medical Center is one of Israel’s largest, best regarded and most strategic hospitals. The sole major medical center for the profoundly diverse Negev, Soroka serves over one million residents, including over 400,000 children, in an area that comprises 60% of Israel’s land mass. Soroka offers recognized excellence and innovation across the entire medical spectrum: prevention, research, diagnosis, education and world-class integrated care for all medical areas including cancer, genetics, brain and trauma. Essential to meeting the medical needs of the Israel Defense Forces, Soroka is a pure symbol of peaceful coexistence, providing exceptional healthcare for all, regardless of race, religion or politics.  With over 17,000 babies born here last year, Soroka’s department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is amongst the busiest in Israel with extraordinary staff and stellar outcomes for our patients. Soroka makes a real difference in the lives of the women of Israel’s south and their families.

2018 will bring the opening of a new Comprehensive Cancer Center at Soroka: the lack of a Cancer Center has been a real gap for healthcare in Israel’s south, that Soroka has been working diligently to close. The new Center will offer streamlined, state-of-the-art treatment for the tens of thousands of cancer patients currently under our care. This Center will save countless lives. In the current equation a person in the southern tip of Israel must travel 221 miles to reach a Cancer Center, and Soroka’s Oncology Department was located in the emergency underground hospital. With the constant threat of long-range missile attacks on Be’er Sheva, it is vital that these facilities be available for emergency use. The new facility is conceived to optimize patient care in every way, and facilitate the implementation of internationally accepted cancer protocols.
